About Lizzy and
Untangle Your Brain:

Lizzy Philip is a Sydney local who loves reading and her cat, and is passionate about supporting students living with disability develop and achieve their goals.

Lizzy has a Bachelor’s degree in English and History and a Masters degree in Special Education. She founded Untangle Your Brain to use her academic training together in combination with her own experience of living with a disability throughout her school and tertiary studies to help high school students and young adults facing similar barriers achieve their goals and encourage self-confidence, self-reliance and success with their studies.

When Lizzy completed high school she worked in tutoring and babysitting and started volunteering in a local primary school in her Bachelors. After her Masters she worked in London for eighteen months in special education based schools and collages before coming back to Australia when the virus hit. She has experience in Cerebral palsy (CP), Autism, Asperger’s syndrome (AS), Global Delay Disorder (GDD), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Lizzy will provide one-on-one mentoring and tutoring sessions across a range of support activities to help build students:

  • Study skills.
  • Organising and prioritising skills
  • Essay preparation skills
  • Life skills
  • Social skills

These are intended to be general in application, not strictly subject-specific. It is a goals-based approach in order to build up what both the parents and the student see for themselves in the future.
